My passion is, has always been, and will probably always be traveling and experiencing different cultures. I do not remember when or how I fell in love with this interest of mine, but life has taught me to embrace the unknown. If I were to describe it with a word, I guess it would be serendipity, perhaps, or fate, or destiny, or even coincidence.
When I was little, I wanted to be an astronaut. The first time I went to a planetarium, I thought to myself, “Wow! Look at all the stars! I will go into space one day, definitely.” Boy, how far away am I from doing that. I had no idea that I would become a language teacher instead and I cannot believe how much I enjoy teaching. Not only has teaching taken me to places I never thought I would be, but it has also shown me the importance of a good education. There is a Chinese proverb believed to be written by Xunzi that reads, “Tell me and I forget. Show me and I remember. Involve me and I understand.” I try my best to stay true to that even though I know that learning does not always happen the way we expect it to.
I feel blessed that I have found a career that I truly love. Maybe it’s just for now, or maybe it’s for good. I don’t know. What I do know is that I continue to learn about myself, about my students, and about the world. Every. Single. Day.
This blog is just a place for thoughts, nothing more.
